Terms of service
Last updated 25 August 2026
StoreVault is a Shopify app made by Steadyware. These terms cover using it. They are written to be read once, in full, by the person who will actually be responsible if something goes wrong.
What you are agreeing to
Installing StoreVault gives it permission to read the parts of your store listed on the permission screen, and to write back only what you approve on a restore plan. Billing runs through Shopify: your plan appears on your Shopify invoice, and you cancel or change it from your Shopify admin. We never see or hold your card details.
You keep every right to your own data. We store copies to give them back to you, and for nothing else. What we hold, for how long, and who can read it is set out in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
What we promise, and what we do not
We promise that the app does what its pages say it does, and that we will tell you when it does not. That is why every backup is checked on a schedule and the result is emailed to you whether it passed or failed: a backup nobody has ever read back is a promise, not a backup.
We do not promise that the service is uninterrupted or error-free, and the service is provided as is. Restores depend on what Shopify allows: orders and customers cannot be recreated, themes come back as a file you upload yourself, and records that no longer exist return under new identifiers. The full boundary is written out here and it applies to every backup app on this platform, ours included.
Your side
Use StoreVault on stores you are entitled to administer, and do not use it to hold data you have no right to hold. Do not attempt to reach another store's backup: every read of protected data is logged, and your own log is visible to you inside the app.
Keep access to your Shopify store admin and to your store contact email address. Both are how we prove it is you - erasing your backup, for example, is confirmed by a link sent to that address and a button pressed inside your admin.
Ending it
You can uninstall at any time, from your Shopify admin, without asking us. After that your backup is kept for about four weeks and then erased: Shopify confirms an uninstall 48 hours after it happens, and the 25-day countdown starts from that confirmation. The window exists because apps get uninstalled by accident. If you want everything gone sooner, Settings has an erase action that destroys your encryption key and cannot be undone.
We may end access for a store that uses the app to break these terms or Shopify's, and we will say why in writing. If we ever stop running the service, you get notice in advance and time to export - not a locked door.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to StoreVault is limited to what you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. On the free plan that amount is nothing, and we would rather say so plainly than hide it in a longer sentence.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer where those apply.
Changes and contact
If these terms change in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes and the change is described in the app or by email. Questions about anything here go to support@storevault.app and are answered by the person who writes the code.
